Thanks to Trevor and Craig for coming over and working through my layout plan with me and adding valuable comments to improve the plan.

The space I have is huge, 13m long 9.8m wide sounds like a dream space right???

Well it is and I am very happy to have it, however there are some restrictions that at first i figured wouldn't be an issue, but after trying to get a lyout in the space I had to make some big compromises, the notable ones are, a max of 30" radius, and "LONG TRAINS" i love long trains, and in my hobby I have a 100 wagon coal train I like to run, each wagon coupler centre to coupler centre in 220mm, plus 6 loco's you do the math its a long train...I have run it down the club once but got to many complaints....

Anyway as you may have noticed on the opening pages of my site, there are a number of vertical posts supporting the roof, unfortunately the spacing doesn't divide into easy layout spacing with 3 feet wide isles as the norm..... to add to this the edges are slopped so it reduces head height to 1.8m at 1.2m from the wall. Anyway I have managed to come up with a creative plan, that is in general settled on. although some minor tweaking will take place to improve the amount of industries and make the most out of all the spaces.

It will be a double deck layout and after discussions with Trevor and Craig, my chosen height of 1200mm (4ft) for the lower deck, and 1500mm (5ft) for the upper deck will work just fine.

The south side yard / town will be the lowest at 3feet, due to head room on that side.

Anyway on the plans the orange represents the posts and the AC ducts. the upper level is at this stage a first pass and outline only I have yet to go back and add detail / industries.
