How to Connect your Arduino to Loconet

You are going to have to make 1 little circuit, or geta friend to make it for you.

Fortunatly it is a very simple circuit.  In time I will put a how to step by step up here for you.

Under the downloads page, you will find the drawing and the link to where I found it. It is in the LocoNet download link

These parts can be purchased from your local electronics store. In australia this would be Jaycar.

I strongly suggest you buy the IC socket, it means you wont accidently damage the IC (LM311)

The components are less than $10, and the vari board is about $6 in Australia. Of course ebay it would all be a lot cheaper but you would be buyinga larger quantity.

Component List
  • 1 x LM311 Comparator

  • 1 x 2N3904 Transistor

  • R21 = 22K Resistor

  • R22 = 10K Resistor

  • R23 = 47K Resistor

  • R24 = 150K Resistor

  • R25 = 4.7K Resistor

  • A piece of Vari Board, the small one is fine (3" x 3"

  • Optional 8 pin IC socket
